How to Record Using the MediaCast Cart to Record Video
Plug in cart Turn on by pressing the large toggle switch inside the small door on the face of the unit. Once the computer boots up log in with: user:media pass:media Click the icon on the desk top labeled "Capture Multi" Once the program launches you should see the image from the camera (if not make sure the camera is powered on). Make sure the audio level is up on the audio mixer in the rack cart for the source you want to use. (Wireless mic or Cam) (the lavaliere microphone is in the drawer below the audio mixer) Click the start encoding button and you will be recording. Click stop to end **** YOU MUST RENAME YOUR VIDEO FILE OR IT WILL BE GONE THE NEXT TIME YOU HIT ENCODING.***** Videos are saved in .WMV file format in the "video storage" folder (there is a shortcut on the desktop). You can pause a recording and restart, but if you hit stop you must rename your file before recording again or you will lose your work (not always a bad thing). There is a red LAN cable in the back of the cart to connect the unit to the web for uploading files to YouTube, SchoolTube, or BlackBoard. Files can be transfered off the MediaCast Cart with a USB drive, external drive, or a SD card. Video Files get very big very fast. Check your media capacity if you are having trouble saving. MediaCast will occasionally update the unit remotely, and that in the past has caused all saved video on the cart to be dumped (erased). As more users access this machine it is possible your work could get deleted by mistake or recorded over. Never leave video on the cart with the intention of 'getting it later'. It will most likely be gone. Save your work, Save your work, Save your work (to your own drive). To keep the machine from getting full of ramdom video it will be purged on a weekly basis. SAVE YOUR WORK TO YOUR OWN DRIVE OR WEB STORAGE. Then delete your own work please. MediaCast cart can also be used for live streaming. Same process as recording video. For live streaming ***the red LAN computer cable must be plugged into an active wall connection*** Click the "Morning Announcements" icon and when ready click "start encoding". When ready to go live, switch to the camera from the 'welcome slide' by clicking the camera button on the left of the capture program. To end a live stream click "end". Video is captured as a live broadcast is being made. If you want it saved make sure you rename the file immediately or it will erase on next use. |
